In the lab, we have developed techniques to measure antibiotic susceptibility within half an hour, on untreated primary cultures. We hope that within a few years, some of the clinical tests that now take several days will be performed within 30 minutes, directly at the primary care center. This way, we can make the treatment more precise and productive. We also decrease the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics that have a big effect on the natural microbiome and thus cause considerable side-effects.
